“I don’t think I’ve ever had it easy here since I arrived. Last year I had to leave and I had to grow as a player, something I think is necessary for any footballer,” he told Barca One. “Once you come back here, you know it won’t be easy, with a new coach, and during preseason I wasn’t there but was at the Olympic Games.

Other teammates were here and did preseason with him.“When the opportunity came, I think I took it seriously, and now I’m truly in a good position. I alternate between starting and coming on as a substitute.

We’d all like to play all the time, but that’s why you’re at this club with players who, with the season we’re having, are proving we’re important.”Eric has played in defence and midfield this season but made it clear where his favourite position is on the pitch.“I consider myself a center-back.

It’s always good to be able to play in different positions. I also played at full-back in a back three at Girona,” he added.“Míchel told me against Cádiz that I would only play that day, but in the end I ended up playing there the whole season.

I know center midfield isn’t my position, but I try to help the team, and if I have to contribute from there, I’d be happy to.”Garcia will be hoping for more minutes again at the weekend against Leganes and could be in line for a start if Flick opts to rotate his team for the match..
