According to Adom Online, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Talensi, Thomas Duanab Wuni Pearson, has shared his thoughts following his defeat in the recent general elections, reaffirming his dedication to his long-term political goals and his constituency. Despite having contested the Talensi seat three times without success, Mr. Wuni remains steadfast in his belief that his efforts are laying the groundwork for lasting change.

In a candid interview with A1 Radio, Mr. Wuni emphasized that his political journey has always been about building a stronger foundation for his party. “I’ve contested an election three times, and I’ve lost three times, but each loss is a stepping stone in building the party.

I remain confident that one day, we will see a more diverse political representation in Talensi,” he said. Mr. Wuni acknowledged the challenges faced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the just-concluded elections, admitting that the party had misjudged the political climate.

He noted that the NPP’s approach in Talensi lacked the same engagement and visibility that had characterized previous campaigns. “Looking at the general trends of the election, I can say we made some errors in judgment. We did not fully anticipate the outcome, especially in Talensi, where we fell short in some areas that were critical in earlier campaigns,” he reflected.

The DCE also compared the 2024 campaign to the vigorous effort he led in 2020. He mentioned that while the 2020 election saw a more energetic and resilient campaign, this year’s effort lacked the same drive. He attributed the shift to a sense of complacency, which led the party to neglect key aspects of outreach and visibility.

“In this election, we didn’t approach it with the same resilience as in 2020,” Mr. Wuni explained. “When you start believing victory is certain, sometimes you overlook important details, and that may have contributed to the missteps we made.
