IMPERIAL — The Imperial Community College District Board of Directors will meet Wednesday evening to discuss, among others, a resolution to honor outgoing member Jerry Hart. The draft resolution reads that Hart has shown unwavering leadership and dedication to the Imperial Community College District and Imperial Valley College as a member of the Board of Trustees representing Area 3 since 2007. The draft resolution also reads Hart has been a passionate advocate for the community and has worked diligently to expand educational opportunities for all students, regardless of their backgrounds, to help them reach their full potential, and his dedication to Imperial Valley College has played a vital role in the progress, growth, and overall success of the college community during his 17 years of dedicated service.
“Jerry Hart's leadership as a Trustee to the College greatly contributed to its designation in 2023 as the #1 College in the Nation by the Aspen Institute,” the draft resolution reads. “Jerry Hart has served as Board President on three occasions and has also represented Imperial Valley College with distinction through three terms on the California Community College Trustees (CCCT) Board.” According to the proposed resolution, Board member Hart has demonstrated his dedication to effective governance by completing the Community College League of California (CCLC) Excellence in Trusteeship Program, and his contributions extended beyond the Board of Trustees, including 13 years of service on the Imperial Valley College Foundation Board (2009-2022) and 16 years on the San Diego and Imperial Community Colleges Association (SDICCCA) Alliance Board (2008-2024), twice serving as SDICCCA Alliance Board President.
“Jerry Hart found great joy in attending student events and ceremonies, often celebrating the achievements of Imperial Valley College students,” the draft resolution reads. “The Imperial Community College District Board of Trustees and the Campus Community extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Jerry Hart for his 17 years of dedicated service as a member of the Board of Trustees and for his unwavering commitment to the students and community of Imperial Valley College.”.
