This Morning's soap expert Sharon Marshall was struggling with a seasonal illness on Wednesday's show.

Alison Hammond on This Morning called for the "first aid kit" as her regular co-star Sharon Marshall became speechless on-air, struck down by a seasonal illness. Dermot O'Leary and Alison expressed their concern for Sharon, who had been noticeably struggling with coughs while attempting to introduce her next segment. Despite her efforts to continue without causing a fuss, Sharon, 53, found herself unable to speak clearly, apologising to viewers: "So sorry my voice has completely gone," but reassured them: "It's hay fever, don't worry.

" Showing care, Alison asked Dermot: "Have you got the first aid kit?" to which he quickly replied: "We've got a lot of stuff", while Alison suggested giving Sharon some mints to help. X Factor presenter Dermot added his own sympathies: "Don't worry Shazza, I feel weak myself, dosed up to the nines," reports Wales Online . Alison then proposed: "Maybe we should do it instead [the soap update], she can just chill, maybe massage her feet, she needs a bit of love.

" Sceptical about their ability to take over, Dermot said: "We don't know what we're doing, we'd be all over the show," leading Alison to concede: "Very true." Sharon then reclaimed her place on the couch, she provided updates on the gripping dramas unfurling in soapland. Over in Emmerdale , tensions soared recently as viewers were left biting their nails when Caleb Miligan (portrayed by William Ash) found himself battling for survival.

This followed a heinous scheme by Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) involving the unspeakable crime of organ theft. The ordeal escalated when a wounded Caleb laid on an operation table after being stabbed, with Dr. Crowley (James Hillier) frantically trying to save his life mid-transplant.

In footage shown on This Morning, Caleb begins to suspect devious activity from Joe after discovering kidney medication. Alison quizzed: "Is Caleb going to work it out?" prompting Sharon to retort: "Oh what a coincidence, you're on the same kidney medication as me?" Then, Sharon turned the spotlight towards EastEnders and the impending departure of Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy) who will soon bid farewell to the BBC series. Further shock landed in a recent episode when Sonia faced the unexpected arrival of her father at her front door.

It's set that Sonia and her on-screen sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) will imminently exit the show, with their final scenes due to unfold over the upcoming weeks. Regarding their exits, Sharon remarked, "Of course Bianca had to go, to get in the Celebrity Big Brother House." Adding her prediction, the soap guru concluded: "Can I say Jack P Shepherd for the win?" Alison remarked: "He keeps getting voted for eviction doesn't he?" To which Sharon replied: "I think that's because he's not playing a game and not getting involved.

We are seeing the real him now and he's a really funny guy." This Morning airs weekdays on ITV1, from 10am..
