On Tuesday's episode of The Chase, Bradley Walsh was so impressed with a contestant's performance that he decided to give her a new nickname. The ITV quiz show welcomed four new hopefuls: Rod, Laura, Kiera, and Antonio, all eager to outsmart Chaser Jenny Ryan for a hefty prize. Chesterfield delivery driver Rod kicked things off by securing £6,000 in a stellar cash-builder round, but his luck ran out when he faced The Vixen - resulting in an early exit.
Next in line was Laura, a 35 year old from the Wirral, who charmed Bradley with her roots: "I'm originally from Liverpool , but we moved over eight years ago to New Brighton ." The host couldn't resist complimenting the area, remarking: "It's a beautiful part of the world." Laura, a shipping line trade manager by day, dazzled in the cash-builder, amassing £7,000 and revealing her passion for Formula One, hoping to fund a trip to the Canadian Grand Prix .
Her knowledge and a sprinkle of good fortune saw her sail past Jenny Ryan, securing a spot in the Final Chase . Bradley was taken aback by some of Laura's correct guesses, exclaiming in disbelief: "How did you get that? That was jammy." Her streak of serendipity led to a playful name change by Bradley as she advanced to the final showdown.
He declared: "From henceforth you will now be known as Jammy Laura." Jenny chimed in with her own playful moniker, suggesting: "I'm a fan of an alliteration. Let's go with Lucky Laura.
" Laura, alongside teammates Antonio and Kiera, vied for a hefty £12,000 prize pot in the Final Chase, where Bradley commended the trio after Antonio joined the final round on a string of successful guesses. Tragically, their fortune dwindled in the Final Chase. Amassing a mere 12 steps, the team watched their dreams slip away as Jenny, The Vixen, caught up with them, a whole 44 seconds to spare, leaving them to go home empty-handed.
