The wait is finally over as ITV viewers watched a fresh batch of campmates settle into their new home on Sunday night. 10 well-known faces have left their lives of luxury behind for camp critters as they made their way to the Australian jungle, in dramatic fashion. During the programme, fans saw the stars get to know one another while around the fire, where TV personality Coleen Rooney spoke about her marriage.
The 38-year-old TV personality is married to former England footballer Wayne Rooney and some of her fellow campmates were keen to find out more about their relationship. Sat with GK Barry, Oti Mabuse and Jane Moore, the former Strictly star asked: "And it was love at first sight?” However, Coleen didn't hold back, confessing that wasn't quite the case when it came to their love story. She replied: "No it was for him, not for me.
He fought to get me, yeah. I waited until I’d done my GCSEs and then I went on a date. I was pretty good at school.
” During their conversation, Coleen shared that her first date with Wayne was in the cinema. She added: "We had a kiss around the church first!" Ahead of entering the show, Coleen confessed she's been asked to join the line-up multiple times in the past and explained her reasons for now saying yes. She commented: "It has been year after year I have been asked to go on a programme and it’s always been a straight no,” says Coleen as she outlines her reasons.
“Over the years, there have been different things going on in my life and also, my children have been really young. But they are at an age now where I can go away for this length of time. "I also feel it’s time to have a challenge for me and do something different.
It has taken many, many years but I’m finally doing it. And I have always said if I was going to do one – then it would be this show. I think it will be good for me.
" Elsewhere during the first episode, viewers saw the celebrities thrown straight into the deep end with a race to the camp, which determined who would be the first leaders of the camp. Ant and Dec explained that whichever pair earned the title would be given special privileges such as being able to sleep in the comfort of the Leaders’ Lodge and being exempt from the first Bushtucker trial. In the end, it was Coronation Street's Alan Halsall and Tulisa Contostavlos who came in victorious with Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan.
