Several of the campmates on the new series of I'm A Celebrity were caught 'red-handed' in the jungle this week as tension appeared to rise in camp. It comes as late arrivals Reverend Richard Coles and Maura Higgins settled into life away from the original campmates in the other camp, the junkyard. However, they soon found that life was more comfortable there with a comfy bed and luxury bath available at the touch of a button.
The duo had to pretend they were living rougher than their fellow celebrities, even persuading them to give up a bed and some of their food. BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough was also roped into the ruse, and if they kept it up, the entire camp would be rewarded with a junk food buffet. However, suspicions began to rise not long after Dean moved into his new home, with Coleen Rooney the first to express her doubts.
And as the main camp discovered that the entire group would be heading to the trial that day to face off with the junkyard residents, they were thrilled at the prospect of a potential confrontation, as reported by OK! magazine . GK Barry exclaimed: "I can't wait to see those lying little thieves!" As they headed to the trial clearing, journalist Jane Moore devised a plan to catch Maura, Dean, and Richard red-handed: "So what we should do is, say nothing to them. Don't let them know that we know.
" When asked about their junkyard experience, the fibs initially continued to flow, with Maura claiming: "We're really hungry." Richard spoke of struggle too, while Dean said: "I slept on the floor last night, so my back is absolutely broke." Alan Halsall later teased: "They're not getting a job in Corrie, I can tell you that! " I'm A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly then asked Coleen for her thoughts, with her saying: "I'm not convinced that you are actually in the junkyard.
" Without hesitation, Dean confirmed that it was a ruse, letting clip: "Wagatha Christie strikes again!" Richard admitted: "Circumstances in the junkyard are not quite as tough as we'd led you to believe." Maura and Dean then owned up to luxuries like bubble baths, much to Melvin Odoom 's disbelief, who exclaimed: "But I heard you crying!" Maura responded: "I'm a good actress." With the gig up, it emerged they were trying to earn a feast for everyone through a secret challenge.
Maura and Richard then faced the first eating trial of the series, the Terrifying Teddy Bear's Picnic. A daunted Maura turned to Richard, pleading, "Father, can we say a prayer please?". Following the trial, as the entire cast headed to main camp, there appeared to be a feud between campmates, the outlet reports.
A new bed and hammock had been set up for fresh arrivals, with McFly's Danny Jones seizing the opportunity to ditch his hammock. Jane couldn't help but observe: "It's Lord of The Flies, if you're newcomers you get the worst beds." Maura however voiced concern for Richard, remarking: "I just feel bad for him, he's not got a good back.
" Backing her sentiment, Alan concurred: "I don't think he should be in a hammock to be honest, I said before, he's 62 and he might want to but I don't think he should be in a hammock." However, as camp leader, Alan is not allowed to give up his bed. Oti Mabuse was prepared to swap with Richard, telling Jane that she would be willing to give up her camp bed.
Jane however gestured towards Dean, saying: "He should go in it." The outlet has teased that tensions could already be rising in camp. As previously reported, there was later tension between Dean and Alan in camp over the allocated chores that some campmates have been given.
Dean was taking a nap when Jane - whom he's responsible for 'camp maintenance' with - headed down to collect firewood. Alan tried to wake him up but ended up joining Jane himself, before Dean caught them up and a tense exchange took place.
