Beloved ITV period drama Heartbeat, is approaching its 33rd anniversay on April 10 having first aired on that date in 1992. The gentle police procedural, which was based on the Constable book series by Nicholas Rhea and set in North Yorkshire , eventually enjoyed an 18 year run until it concluded on September 12 2010. Set in the 1960s it followed the lives of a group of police officers, medical staff and residents in the fictional areas of Ashfordly and Aidensfield and starred the likes of Nick Berry, Niamh Cusack, Bill Maynard and Tricia Penrose.
In the 15 years since the show ended the cast have had differing fates. It launched the careers of some who went on to to star in other popular soaps, films and theatre productions, whereas others moved away from the spotlight and found new careers. Express.
