More info Caleb Miligan is on edge in Emmerdale, clueless about the grim reality of his recent kidney transplant, and his feud with Joe Tate could take a lethal twist.

Emmerdale 's Will Ash hints at fiery showdowns to come as Caleb becomes more suspicious of Joe Tate ( Ned Porteous ), yet he's unaware of the grave betrayal he's endured. "If Caleb knew the truth, he'd want to kill Joe," Will reveals, "He's quite calculated but he would fly off the handle." Caleb found himself in hospital after being discovered with a stab wound and a missing kidney.

He believes an unknown attacker is to blame before Joe stepped in to arrange emergency private medical treatment, seemingly saving his life. But the truth is far more sinister: Joe has been covertly plotting to snatch Caleb's kidney, the only compatible donor in the village. Despite Joe's treachery, Caleb is still in the dark about his real intentions.

Instead, Caleb's suspicions turn to Jai Sharma ( Chris Bisson ), who seems to be taking advantage of Steph Miligan's troubles. Caleb's daughter, portrayed by Georgia Jay, is dealing with guilt over her grandfather Anthony's death, especially after the bombshell that he was actually her biological father. With her mother Ruby ( Beth Cordingly ) trying to hold the family together, it's up to Caleb to steer through the chaos without revealing their perilous secrets.

"Caleb's trying to guide Steph through this. They can't get her any kind of therapy," Will explains, "She could end up telling the therapist everything. They're stuck between a rock and a hard place.

" But Jai's snooping has Caleb on edge. "He's really wary of the fact that, if he starts digging, then he might find something incriminating," Will reveals. The consequences could ripple through the village, potentially implicating Cain, Chas, Aaron Dingle, and John Sugden - all involved in hiding Anthony's body.

"Jai's digging could absolutely blow it wide open," Will warns. "Caleb makes it clear to Steph she needs to stay away from him." Despite Caleb's efforts, Steph's mental health worsens.

She isolates herself, seeking comfort at Anthony's hidden grave, leading to a shocking act. "I don't think Caleb realises how bad things have gotten," Will admits. "But they find her clawing away at the ground where he's buried.

It's painful to watch." As Caleb and Ruby hurry to help, Joe Tate emerges as another threat. Ruby's strong reaction to Joe only raises his suspicions further.

A bigger surprise is yet to come. "Steph makes them realise that there might not be anybody buried there," Will hints, "You'd need a mechanical digger and John hasn't got access to one." John ( Oliver Farnworth ), a paramedic and family friend, played a crucial role in covering up Anthony's death.

Initially, he thought his boyfriend Aaron ( Danny Miller ) was the killer - but it later transpired that Ruby was the one who smothered Anthony after Aaron had beaten him. Determined to uncover the truth about Joe, Caleb devises a plan, involving Noah Dingle ( Jack Downham ). "He sabotages one of the lights in his depot so he can get Noah to come round to fix it last-minute," teases Will.

"He asks Noah about Joe because he knows they spend a lot of time together." What Noah discloses is enough to leave Caleb feeling uneasy, but a conversation with Noah's mum Charity (played by Emma Atkins ) heightens his suspicions. "She says she doesn't trust Joe," Will reveals, "In that moment, Caleb doesn't think that the stabbing was anything suspicious but he is thinking Joe is not to be trusted.
