Olympians Manika Batra and Sreeja Akula won their group stage openers at the ITTF World Cup in Macao, China, on Monday. Placed in Group 16, World No. 30 Manika began her campaign by taking down New Caledonia’s Maylis Giret 4-0 (11-1, 11-2, 11-6, 11-4).

34 Sreeja defeated Australia’s Constantina Psihogios 3-1 (11-9, 11-4, 11-8, 6-11). World No. 13 Bernadette Szocs of Romania is the third player in the group.
