Isuzu has reimagined an icon with the launch of the Dragonmax Restomod at this year's Bangkok International Motorshow, a bold tribute to the beloved 1988 TFR pickup truck. Blending vintage charm with cutting-edge upgrades, the Dragonmax reinforces Isuzu’s “Trusted Buddy” ethos—remaining a reliable partner while stepping into the future. The restomod features a "Katana Matte Silver" body with wide fender flares, a ducktail rear spoiler and muscle-style side skirts.
A redesigned front end includes a new bumper, grille, hood and LED projector headlights with DRLs, giving the truck a modern, aggressive look. The widebody rear bed and new LED taillights round out the transformation.Underneath, the Dragonmax boasts a revamped suspension and steering system, including Profender Queen Series & Piggy Back shocks, a new rack and pinion setup and Brembo disc brakes (340 mm front, 320 mm rear).
It rolls on 17-inch Bradley-V wheels wrapped in 225/50 Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 tires.Inside, it’s all sport-luxury: Alcantara-trimmed Recaro Premium Classic seats, a custom front console, a 10-inch AIM MXT digital display and an 11.8-inch Android infotainment screen linked to ECU Shop’s Ultra Boost control unit, displaying real-time performance metrics.
Powering the Dragonmax is the new 2.2 Ddi MAXFORCE diesel engine, tuned by BRD to produce 220 hp and 550 Nm of torque — all channeled through the ECU Shop’s Boost Speed Next electric throttle.See more of the restomod in the video by Isuzu Thailand below.
