Israeli Tech Founder Refuses To Step Down As CEO Triggering Email War; Takes Beef Online With Tweet

Israeli tech startup OpenWeb’s abrupt leadership transition has provided some masala this monotonous Monday noon for the internet slogging over at their corporate to relish. Toh bhai ese hua kia, OpenWeb’s founder and (now ex) CEO Nadav Shoval was removed from his position by the board that appointed Tim Harvey as the current CEO. Harvey is also the chairman of the board.

What ensued is an email war between the founder and the company’s board of directors. Shoval’s email came soon after the announcement of Harvey’s appointment as CEO. However, Harvey sent a follow-up email of apology, remarking on a “planned CEO transition process.

” Shoval further remarked that he notified his company earlier over breach of contract. He alleged that the board of directors “ chose to announce leadership transition ” instead of “ addressing the issues, ” which in effect is an “ act against OpenWeb’s best interes t.” He further stated in his tweet, “I do not accept these actions .

” Shoval added that he will continue to fight for OpenWeb’s mission. I have not stepped down as OpenWeb’s CEO. I recently notified the Company that they breached my contract, which was intended to directly call out concerning conduct by the Board of Directors.

The founder CEO tussle to stay on board a company reminds of similar ouster in major companies, including Steve Jobs, who later was recalled to transform the fate of Apple.
