Sheetz’s “Made-to-Order” menu has beaten Lehigh Valley’s Crayola, Peeps and Martin & Co. guitars to be named the Coolest Thing Made in PA. The third annual single-elimination tournament, hosted by the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, garnered over 65,000 votes on social media pages, a news release said.
“From our public bracket unveiling in March to reveling in the close matchups over these last several weeks and seeing the voters weigh in, this year’s contest wasn’t only fun but again showcased Pennsylvania’s excellence in manufacturing, consumer engagement, and brand loyalty,” Chamber President and CEO Luke Bernstein said in the release. “We love hosting this annual contest to remind people how many incredible products are made here and beloved across the Commonwealth, the nation, and worldwide. Congratulations to Sheetz on their well-deserved victory!” Easton’s Crayola made it through to the finals, beating out Lancaster’s DS Stoves, Bucks County’s Rita’s Italian Ice, Philadelphia’s Dalessandro’s Cheesesteaks, Bethlehem’s own Peeps and, in the semi-final round, Denim Coffee of Central Pennsylvania.
But the crayon maker was unable to beat Sheetz’s made-to-order items, which include burgers, chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, tacos, pizzas, chicken nuggets, mozzarella sticks, platters, baked potatoes, pretzels, macaroni and cheese and French toast sticks. “We are honored and so grateful to be named the ‘Coolest Thing in Pennsylvania,’” Ryan Sheetz, executive vice president of marketing and supply chain, said in a release. “Our MTOs have been fueling Sheetz Runs for almost 40 years across the Commonwealth bringing value, customization, and variety to Sheetz Freakz everywhere – 24/7/365!” Wawa was not in the running.
