Get ready for some major changes to the temperatures in Houston.

HOUSTON — Major changes are coming to the Houston weather pattern next week and Sunday will be the turning point as temperatures plummet along with an incoming front. It's expected to stay fairly mild between now through Saturday with lows remaining in the 40s and 50s and highs in the upper-60s to low 70s. Sunday turns warmer and more humid.

That will be the fuel for a severe storm threat that arrives on Sunday. The KHOU 11 Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert day . The main window of concern is between 6 a.



m. and 6 p.m.

Showers will begin in the morning and then the main line of storms arrives, which will bring the potential for severe weather around noon. By 4 p.m.

, the storms should be pushing down the Gulf Freeway and by 6 p.m., they should be pushing offshore.

Monday's low will be right at freezing, while on Tuesday, it could drop to 30 degrees. Feels-like temperatures could be in the 20s in Houston when you factor in the wind. The variable to watch closely will be a Pacific low-pressure system.

This could add moisture to the picture, which brings the possibility of winter precipitation. The highest likelihood of this would be Wednesday into Thursday. As of now, the majority of the energy is staying north and west of the Houston area but we'll monitor it closely.
