Yellowstone prequel 1923 has been airing on Paramount Plus and the second season included a two-hour finale which sealed Alex (played by Julia Schlaepfer) and Spencer's (Brandon Sklenar) fate. In a harrowing twist of events, Alex died from being exposed to the elements, leaving Spencer a widower with their newborn son. Fans are keen to know whether the prequel will continue and some of the stars have already shared their understanding of what is next for the Duttons.
In 2023, Spencer actor Brandon described the series as "bookend", saying it would conclude with season two. He told The Hollywood Reporter: "It's still limited, but I mean we kind of—I think of it as one piece—it's just, there's just a split in the middle, but it's all one piece. It will conclude, um, yeah at the end of that.
" The series was always slated to be two seasons, with Ellie Creighton actress Sarah Randall Hunt telling The Mirror US: "Endings are always bittersweet, but I’m pleased as punch with how 1923 wraps up. "It feels right for it to be a limited series. Powerful.
And you know what they say—endings are just the start of something new. "I hope we get to meet more of the Dutton family tree someday soon." Although 1923 has ended after two seasons, there has been talks of another prequel titled 1944, although this has not been confirmed.
In an interview with Variety, Brandon joked the Yellowstone prequels would continue all the way into the 60s. He said: "Oh yeah, we are going to do 1933, ‘43, ‘53, ‘63. I’m really looking forward to ‘63.
There’s a lot to draw from there. "Then there’s Spencer at Woodstock as an old man, I’m looking forward to filming those scenes." He admitted it would be hard to let Spencer go, adding: "This is my first television experience, and just walking around with this guy, this character, inside of you for three years, it’s crazy.
He is still there. "It has affected who I am, it has changed who I am. So I would love to continue to do it in any capacity if I could.
" 1923 is available to watch on Paramount Plus.
