Met Eireann is forecasting a mixed April with a major change on the horizon

Ireland will bask in glorious warm weather as the mercury will continue to soar this month. Met Eireann has forecasted above-average temperatures for April, but sadly, it's not all good news. The national forecaster is warning of heavy rain as wetter than average conditions will grip the country in Week 1 (Monday 14 April to Sunday 20 April).

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Week 1 looks to bring a sharp contrast to the weather experienced in early April with low pressure dominating for the week. This will likely lead to much wetter than average conditions for the week, with temperatures trending near the average for mid-April." Week 2 (Monday 21 April to Sunday 27 April) "Week 2, in contrast to week 1 looks to have high pressure returning and dominating the forecast.

This will likely lead to lower than average precipitation amounts for the week, along with temperatures trending above average. Week 3 (Monday 28 April to Sunday 04 May) "For week 3, a slight signal for high pressure looks to be the most dominant weather pattern for the week. This will likely lead to temperatures trending above average for the time of year, however the signal for precipitation amounts looks to be mixed, with equal probability of higher or lower than average amounts for the time of year.

Week 4 (Monday 05 May to Sunday 11 May) "By week 4, uncertainty in the forecast grows, with little in the way of a signal for either high or low pressure. There is nevertheless a slight signal for temperatures to trend slightly higher than normal, with precipitation amounts also higher than normal for the time of year."
