The flotilla, comprised of Bushehr and Lavan warships, has gone to India to convey the message of peace and friendship as part of a tour of the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean littoral states. The Navy cadets on board the two Iranian warships are undergoing training during the journey. The mission commander of the Iranian Navy’s 100th combat, operational and training flotilla, Captain Mohammad Saberi, held a meeting with Rear Admiral Vidyadhar Harke, the chief staff officer (for operations) at the Headquarters Western Naval Command of India.

The Indian commander hailed Iran as a powerful country in the fight against piracy, saying Iran has been able to ensure the security of trade vessels in the Gulf of Aden. He also expressed hope that the Iranian servicemen’s visit to Mumbai would pave the way for closer cooperation between the two countries in the training activities and in holding joint war games..
