Australia are, of course, the reigning ODI World Champions and Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins had emerged as the most expensive cricketers in the IPL 2024 auction.
This time around Cummins has been retained by Sunrisers Hyderabad but Starc will be once again heading into the auction after becoming the most expensive auction buy ever at Rs 24.75 crore last year. Apart from Starc, the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David and Mitchell Marsh are also heading back into the auction pool after being released by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Mumbai Indians (MI), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
Out of a total of 574 players going under the hammer, 37 of them are Australian cricketers. David Warner, who has retired from international cricket, has also put his name in the auction pool at a base price of Rs 2 crore. Former Australia captain Steve Smith is also returning to the IPL 2025 mega auction after giving the T20 league a miss last year.
