Gujarat Titans suffered another injury blow in IPL 2025 as Glenn Phillips has been ruled out without playing a single match. Earlier, South African pacer Kagiso Rabada left the camp due to personal reasons. GT are yet to name replacements for either player.

Gujarat Titans (GT) have suffered a fresh blow in the ongoing IPL 2025 season with New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips ruled out of the tournament due to a groin injury. The middle-order batter and dynamic fielder didn’t get a chance to feature in GT’s starting XI so far in the season, and has now returned home without having played a single match this season. An official statement from the franchise confirmed the development, stating that “Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6.

Gujarat Titans wish Glenn a speedy recovery.” Phillips had come on as a substitute fielder after the fifth over of SRH’s innings but could only manage four deliveries on the field. Attempting a sharp throw from the deep after a quick single by Ishan Kishan and Nitish Kumar Reddy, he immediately went down clutching his groin.

The incident occurred during a Prasidh Krishna over, and Phillips was taken off the field by GT’s support staff. Despite being table-toppers with four wins in five games, Gujarat Titans now find themselves short on overseas depth. Notably, Phillips becomes the second overseas player to exit GT’s squad this season, following South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada, who left earlier this month citing personal reasons.

There is no clarity on Rabada’s return, and GT have not named replacements for either player yet. GT are scheduled to play Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 26 of IPL 2025 on Saturday. The match will begin at 3:30 PM IST.
