co/05k9KxdFjG — Consomac (@Consomac) November 20, 2024 Barclays analyst Tom O'Malley and his team recently visited Asia to engage with various electronics manufacturers and suppliers. In a research note released this week, summarizing the key insights from their trip, the analysts stated they have "confirmed" that a fourth-generation iPhone SE, featuring an Apple-designed 5G modem, is projected to be launched towards the end of the first quarter of next year. This aligns with earlier rumors, indicating that the new iPhone SE may be announced in March, mirroring the timeline of the current model's announcement in 2022.

The anticipated fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to resemble the base iPhone 14 in design, with speculated features including a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a newer A-series chip, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, 8GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence, and the aforementioned Apple-designed 5G modem. Since 2018, Apple has been rumored to be developing its own 5G modem for iPhones, a strategic move aimed at reducing and ultimately eliminating its reliance on Qualcomm.

Earlier this year, Apple extended its supply agreement with Qualcomm for 5G modems for iPhone launches through 2026, providing ample time for the company to finalize the transition to its proprietary modem. iPhone SE 4 : sa date de sortie se dévoile, le smartphone Apple à petit prix approche #iphone https://t.co/WvOiA0524d — Buzzarena (@BuzzarenaCom) November 20, 2024 In addition to the fourth-generation iPhone SE, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously indicated that the so-called "iPhone 17 Air" will also feature an Apple-designed 5G modem.
