A dialogue between well-known leaker Ice Universe and Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, focused on the display features of the iPhone 17 series. Young indicated in a series of responses that both the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Slim will continue to utilize LTPO technology and 120Hz displays, which refers to ProMotion, the adaptive refresh rate found in the Pro models. The reference to LTPO and the refresh rate could suggest the inclusion of an always-on display.

Young has a commendable history regarding supply chain insights related to display technology. His remarks align with previous speculations concerning the models, including assertions about an always-on display made by Young in April and a leak from Ice Universe in July regarding ProMotion support. After the initial release of this information, Young stated that there had been a miscommunication regarding one of the features.

Young indicated in a series of responses that the under-display Face ID feature would not be available on the iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Slim, but would be included in the Pro models. This technology would render the camera invisible to users when not in operation, concealing the camera and removing any punch-hole gaps from the display. Apple is planning major upgrades for the iPhone 17 lineup including new sizes, 120Hz ProMotion on standard models, A19 chip, and more Would you wait to upgrade next year? However, Young later clarified that his previous statement was made in error, as he was not following the thread accurately.
