The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro are officially revealed and Malaysians can place their pre-order starting this Friday, 13th September 2024. Besides getting performance and AI upgrades, the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro also get faster wireless charging. With the newly updated Magsafe charger, Apple has bumped the wireless charging speed from 15W to 25W for the new iPhone lineup.

At 25W, Apple is now offering wireless charging at the same 25W output as wired charging on the base Samsung Galaxy S24 , Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 . The new MagSafe Charger which supports 25W of charging still retains the same price of RM219 for the 1-metre version and RM249 for the 2-metre option. The charger is already listed on Apple Malaysia’s online store but it isn’t available for order yet.

Do note that in order to enjoy the faster wireless charging speed of up to 25W, you’ll need to pair it with a 30W USB-C Power Adapter which is sold separately. The original Apple power adapter is priced at RM169 and it is compatible with iPhone, iPad and entry-level MacBook Air. The new MagSafe Charger is also compatible with Qi2 charging standards and it can also be used to charge olders iPhone models without MagSafe and AirPods equipped with a wireless charging case.

For older iPhone models that support MagSafe, the new charger can push up to 15W, or 12W if it is the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 mini . According to Apple, the iPhone 16 lineup can be charged up to 50% in just 30 minutes when you charge via a USB-C cable attached to a 20W adapter or with the new MagSafe charger paired with a 30W power adapter. For the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a bigger battery, it takes 35 minutes to charge up to 50% with the same setup.

Both iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro with the newer efficient A18 and A18 Pro chips boast longer battery life compared to their predecessors. The iPhone 16 claims to offer up to 22 hours of video playback (iPhone 15: 20 hours) while the iPhone 16 Plus boasts up to 27 hours of video playback (iPhone 15 Plus: 26 hours). Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro claims to provide up to 27 hours of video playback (iPhone 15 Pro: 23 hours) and the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max offers up to 33 hours of video playback (iPhone 15 Pro Max: 29 hours).
