Firefighters are preparing to investigate the cause of a fire at a food plant. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said six fire engines were sent to poultry producer Gressingham Foods at Redgrave, Suffolk, early on Saturday. A spokesman said a security guard had raised the alarm after spotting smoke.
He said crews from a number of stations had been involved in dealing with the incident. The fire service said crews were called to fire at the Hinderclay Road site at 04:33 BST. "A security guard on site saw smoke in a food packaging area of the premises and raised the alarm," said a spokesman.
"It was established that the building was well alight and a total number of six fire engines were required. "Crews from Ixworth, Diss, Bury St Edmunds, and an Operational Support Unit from Haverhill attended, along with two crews - from East Harling and Thetford - from Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service." He added: "No-one was hurt.
