Intersection could be closed for 3 weeks

The intersection of Ninth Street NW, Second Avenue NW and Third Avenue Court NW in Hickory will be closed for construction of the OLLE Art Walk starting Monday, according to a press release from the city of Hickory. The press release said work may take up to three weeks to complete. Contractors will be installing sewer lines, storm drainage and curb gutter related to the project, the press release said.

Detour routes will be clearly marked, the press release said. The city's map shows three detour routes. The first detour route, starting south of the construction zone on Ninth Street NW, turns onto First Avenue NW.



From there, it turns onto Sixth Street NW then onto Third Avenue NW. The second detour, approaching the work area from the east, begins on Second Avenue NW and veers onto Third Avenue Drive NW. The route then turns onto 10th Street Place NW, then back onto Second Avenue NW.

The third detour begins north of the construction area on Ninth Street NW. It turns west onto Third Avenue NW then south on 10th Street Place NW. It then turns onto Second Avenue NW and immediately onto 11th Street NW.
