Interior of new Geely Galaxy Starship 9 flagship SUV spied Spy shots have emerged of the interior of a new Geely Galaxy model. This should be the production version of the Galaxy Starship flagship SUV, which was unveiled as a concept at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. There is some debate over what the car will actually be called when produced.
Under the original product plan, the car should be the Galaxy L9. However, it appears this naming system has changed since the launch of the Geely Galaxy Starship 7 EM-i , and so it is believed that this new car will be known as the Geely Galaxy Starship 9 EM-i. It should be noted that in 2025, Geely will launch three flagship SUV products for different brands in the stable.
In addition to the Geely Galaxy 9 EM-i, there will also be new flagship SUVs for both the Lynk & Co and Zeekr brands, which are currently known by the L946 and EX1H internal code names, respectively. The spy shots show that the interior of the car is not particularly large, which may even indicate that this is not the production version of the Starship concept, which looked larger at the Beijing Auto Show. From one shot, we can see that the car has a four-seat arrangement.
Presumably, there will also be a five-seat version. Interestingly, the tailgate appears to be a two part design with a lower shelf similar to that of a Range Rover. From the front interior spy shot, we can see that the model is positioned higher than the Starship 7 EM-i.
There is a large dashboard mounted floating screen. This appears to extend over into the passenger side of the vehicle, making it much longer than the screen on the Starship 7. On the driver’s side, there is also an embedded instrument display.
There will almost certainly be, in addition, a head-up display. The steering wheel is very similar to the style of other Galaxy models. Also visible is a huge storage space underneath the center console.
The new model uses Geely’s GEA (Global Intelligent Electric Architecture), Which is also referred to as “Geely AI Digital Chassis.” First used on the Galaxy E5 model, it is derived from the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform and can be utilized for EV, EREV, PHEV, and green methanol powertrains. The car will use the new NordThor (Thor) 2.
0 PHEV powertrain. This is Geely Galaxy’s answer to BYD’s DM 5.0 technology and comprises of a 1.
5-liter naturally aspirated engine with 82 kW power and two electric motors. Fuel consumption in the Starship 7 is 2.62 L/100km and provides a range of up to 2390 km.
The Starship 9 also uses the Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system for the motors. According to Geely, the new car will have a large amount of AI elements, not only the chassis but also AI intelligent audio with panoramic surround sound and an AI digital Seat. The latter, it is claimed, will be the world’s first smart AI seat, but it is not very clear what that actually means.
