Talents of the staff from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva were recognised at HOTEC 2024, the annual event hosted by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association. Held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort, HOTEC brings together Fiji’s hospitality professionals, celebrating achievements, innovation, and the future of tourism in Fiji. This year’s standout achievers include: Hansini Gounder from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, who earned first place in the Barista Competition for the third time, following her wins in 2017 and 2018.
This demonstrates Hansini’s exceptional expertise and dedication to the art of coffee making. Theodore Reyes, also from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, won the Bartender Competition, impressing judges with his inventive use of local ingredients in his cocktail creations. Anesh Anushal Goundar from InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, placed as Runner-Up in the Chef Competition, showcasing his culinary skills with dishes inspired by Fijian flavours.
Joining them were Brandon Solvalu from Grand Pacific Hotel and Mereoni Ligadua and Malakai Kauyaca from Holiday Inn Suva, who represented FNPF Owned IHG Hotels & Resorts with enthusiasm and professionalism, highlighting the strength of food & beverage talent across the portfolio of hotels in Fiji. “Our team’s exceptional achievements at HOTEC 2024 reflect IHG’s commitment to developing talent and supporting the growth of our local hospitality industry,” said IHG Hotels & Resorts portfolio general manager, Lachlan Walker. The HOTEC event, supported by partners such as APTC, South Pacific Coffee Company, Punjas Fiji, and Fiji Gas, provided a platform for hospitality professionals to demonstrate their skills and exchange ideas focused on quality, sustainability, and innovation.
