Inter-College Youth Festival kicks off at PAU

Ludhiana: The Inter-College Youth Festival for the academic session 2024-25 kicked off at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). Clad in traditional and stylish attires with placards in their hands, the students of five constituent colleges of PAU, Ludhiana and one outstation college of Ballowal Saunkhri delivered a performance that highlighted themes such as gender equality, drug menace, joys of rural Punjab, discouraging migration to foreign lands, respect for mother tongue, ushering the agrarian state in Rangla Punjab and promoting Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a highly competitive era. Students enthralled the audience with solo dance, folk songs, duet songs, western group song, light vocal solo among others.

The chief guest, minister for agriculture Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, underscored the importance of sustainability, be it livelihood, agriculture or any other field, “in unsustainable times”. Talking about rising unemployment, the minister said the state govt had provided employment to 45,000 youths during the past two years and was going to create “more employability for the educated passouts”. PAU vice-chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal presided over the inaugural ceremony while Ludhiana (North) MLA Madam Lal Bagga was the special guest.
