The Inspiring Youth Christmas on the Park Program that was held last month was a special event that brought hope, joy and love upon the Suva’s street-dwelling youths. The program organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports allowed the youths to celebrate the joyous moments of Christmas. Often overlooked during the festive season, the Ministry ensured that the youths had a memorable Christmas.
According to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the event wasn’t just about celebrating Christmas, it was also about showing the youths that they are seen, valued and supported. The Ministry said through their collaboration with partners, volunteers and community groups, they were able to provide immediate care, share a warm meal and created a safe space where the true spirit of Christmas was reciprocated. “With over 45 street-dwelling youths identified in Suva, this initiative is part of our broader commitment under the Balata Vou Tale Na Lawa (Casting the Net Anew) approach, focusing on practical solutions like rehabilitation, education, and reintegration,” the Ministry said.
“To the youth who joined us, remember—you are not alone. Together, we are building a society where every young person feels safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential.” The Ministry thanked everyone who made the event possible.
