Dianne Buswell, the professional dancer who joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, has won over many fans. This year, she's partnered with comedian Chris McCausland and their performances have been a hit with viewers, leading to calls for them to win the coveted Glitterball trophy. Despite not yet winning the competition, 35 year old Dianne has reached the final twice - once with YouTuber Joe Sugg and again with EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier.
She and Chris, who is visually impaired due to retinitis pigmentosa, have consistently wowed the judges on the BBC show with their routines, avoiding the dance-off so far. Dianne made the move from Australia to the UK when she joined the Strictly cast in 2017. Prior to this, she was a dancer on Australia's Dancing With The Stars and also featured on So You Think You Can Dance Australia.
Since relocating, she's appeared on Children In Need, CelebAbility, Pointless Celebrities, Freeze The Fear With Wim Hof, and Celebrity Masterchef. Strictly has had a significant impact on Dianne's life, including her move to the UK and finding love. She is currently dating YouTube sensation Joe Sugg, whom she met while they were partners on Strictly in 2018, reports the Daily Record .
After the series ended, the couple, now aged 33 and 35 respectively, announced that they were in a relationship. Years on, the couple's love story continues to flourish, and they've settled into an impressive £3.5 million, five-bedroom abode just outside Brighton, where JoeZoe Sugg's younger brother, better known as Zoellaspent his childhood.
The duo even harbours aspirations of expanding their family, with Dianne expressing her desire for children with her partner. In a conversation with Women's Health, she expressed: "Joe is the most supportive person. I'd love to have a family one day, and I know Joe would love a family too.
That would be our dream one day." Beyond her personal life, Dianne has been candid about her past health challenges. Last year, she revealed her struggle with bulimia during her youth, detailing her fixation on attaining an ideal body shape and weight.
Dianne recounted her experience of ending up in hospital due to missed meals and over-exercising, which resulted in anaemia from insufficient iron intake. At her lowest point, the now fit star had ceased menstruating and struggled to ascend stairs. However, it was her hospitalisation that marked a pivotal moment in her life, a period she insists she "never wants to return to, ever".
While discussing her health on ITV's Lorraine, Dianne disclosed: "I worked on a cruise ship for quite a while. It's tricky, because as a dancer you get weighed. We got weighed every week and had a thing called a WW, which was a weight warning.
I had two of them in my time and I weighed two more kilos that I do now." She further revealed: "I went through one point where I just wouldn't eat, so I just had a drink for lunch and a drink for dinner. I got really sick and if I did have some food, I would make myself sick because I wouldn't want it in me.
I adore dancing, but I guess as I became more successful, the pressures also grew. That can really spiral you into this awful self-doubt and the pressure of that makes you do crazy things.".
