Escape to the Country presenter Ginny Buckley is back on our screens on BBC One, helping a hopeful family find their dream home. The 56-year-old joined the popular property show in 2015 and has had an interesting career journey. Born in Rochdale in April 1968, Ginny moved to Australia at the age of 18, having already kick-started her presenting career with BBC local radio in Manchester when she was just 12 years old.
During her late teens, while living in Sydney, she worked in commercial radio before returning to England in 1991. Among her career highlights is the establishment of a multi-channel media platform called Electrifying.com in March 2020.
The project involved experts in electric cars providing straightforward advice for those considering making the switch. Fans might also be intrigued to learn that Ginny has dabbled in acting, playing a newsreader on The Bill in 2008. In terms of her personal life, Ginny now resides in Shiplake with her son Zak and their cocker spaniel, Ziggy.
She fell in love with the area during her first visit, reports Wales Online . She often enjoys walking along the Thames Path and other popular routes with her family, as well as stand-up paddleboarding on the river during the summer months. Ginny is also a strong advocate for environmental issues, supporting the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill in Parliament, which calls for legally binding measures to reduce Britain's greenhouse gas emissions and limit global warming to no more than 1.
5C. The celebrity shared with the Henley Standard her delight in her chosen hometown: "I moved here without even visiting Henley. I was sold purely on the charm of this village, which I absolutely adore because of its proximity to the river and great walks on the doorstep.
" She described her first visit to Henley after relocating: "I first popped into Henley after moving and immediately realised how lucky I was to not only have more space and a better quality of life but also this beautiful and historic market town just a few minutes away." Discussing her son's eco-conscious endeavours, she said that he shared her environmental passion and would gather trash with his friends from the river. The journalist and presenter acknowledged her son Zak's fifteenth birthday in August by posting on Instagram: "And just like that my beautiful boy is 15 and taller than me! ".
She expressed her deep affection and pride on his special day: "Wishing you the happiest of birthdays and a year filled with all the good things you deserve - climb that ladder to the stars." Her heartfelt message continued: "I love you to the moon and back and I'm so proud of you, mum x". Escape to the Country airs on BBC One at 3pm.
