Ace India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has revealed that Mohammed Siraj has a niggle and credited him for bowling to the best of his abilities despite the issue, taking into account the fact that if he sits out, the team will be under more pressure, missing out on a crucial pacer. Bumrah lauded his pace colleague for bowling through the pain and giving his best. Siraj bagged two wickets in his 24 overs in the first innings and Bumrah, who once again emerged as the best bowler with figures of 6/76, credited his colleague for supporting the side despite the discomfort.
Siraj has looked way below his best in the ongoing series and although he looked good in the first Test in Perth, the Adelaide Test and the first innings in Brisbane was a dampener. "We (Siraj and I) have had conversations but this was the conversation he had with me before we came here (Brisbane). When we came here in Perth, as well as the last game, he looked in very good spirits," Bumrah told the media after the end of the day's play.
"He was bowling well and he has picked up a fair few of the wickets. In this game, I will give him credit that he had a little bit of a niggle but he still kept on bowling and still helped the team because he knew if he goes inside and he doesn't bowl, then that team will go under pressure," Bumrah added. Siraj looked in discomfort when he held onto his hamstring after bowling the second delivery of the 37th over of Australia's first innings.
The physio was called and he left the field as an injury scare dawned upon India. Akash Deep bowled the rest of the over. Siraj, however, returned to the field on the second day and ended up taking the wickets of Australia captain Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon.
