Attrition rose to 14.1% in the quarter ended March 31, 2025, from 13.7% in the previous three-month period, according to an exchange filing by the company. The rise of 40 basis points comes even as the IT major reported an addition of 199 employees, bringing total headcount to 323,578.

Infosys Ltd , India’s second-largest software services exporter, reported a slight uptick in its voluntary attrition rate for the March quarter, while total employee headcount remained largely unchanged. Attrition rose to 14.1% in the quarter ended March 31, 2025, from 13.

7% in the previous three-month period, according to an exchange filing by the company. The rise of 40 basis points comes even as the IT major reported an addition of 199 employees, bringing total headcount to 323,578. The company said it hired approximately 15,000 freshers during the quarter, suggesting net attrition at mid and senior levels.

“The net increase of 6,000 gross was offset by attrition, which is driven by a variety of factors including offers from global capability centres (GCCs), peer competition, and personal decisions like higher education,” said Jayesh Sanghrajka, Chief Financial Officer at Infosys. The data highlights a continued churn in India’s IT workforce as employees weigh alternatives in a volatile global macroeconomic environment. Infosys released its earnings for the January-March period of fiscal year 2024-25 on Thursday.

The company is among the first of India’s large-cap IT firms to report earnings this season..
