Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Lok Adalat was organised on Saturday at Indore District Court in which 13397 cases were settled and compensation of around Rs 78 crore was awarded. Principal district and sessions judge/chairman District Legal Services Authority Ajay Srivastava inaugurated the National Lok Adalat. DLSA secretary Asif Ahmed Abbasi said that in the district headquarters as well as in the external courts 82 benches constituted for redressal of cases, 646 cases of motor accident claims, 94 cases of civil, 249 cases of electricity, 958 cases of cheque dishonour, 242 cases of compromiseable criminal, 177 cases of family dispute, 86 cases of labour, 23 cases of bank recovery and 1866 other compromiseable cases, thus a total of 4341 cases pending in the courts were resolved on the basis of mutual compromise, in which awards of about Rs 60 crore rupees were passed.
Apart from this, pre-litigation cases of banks, BSNL, electricity and the municipal corporation were also kept in the Lok Adalat, in which a total of 9056 cases were resolved and about 18 crore rupees were ordered in total as recovery.
