Indira Marathon today, traffic & security arrangements in place

Prayagraj: Officials of the district administration on Monday claimed to have completed all preparations for the 39th All-India Prize Money Indira Marathon scheduled on Tuesday. Top runners, including previous champions, arrived in the city to participate in the event. By Monday evening, over 175 men and 50 women registered for the event.

This was the first time participants were provided with a free chip to record the exact running time. Traffic and security arrangements for the marathon were also reviewed by senior police officials. Officials said the distance for the marathon would be 42.



195 km. It is being organised jointly by the Athletics Federation of India , UP Sports Department, and Prayagraj district administration. The marathon will start from near the historical Anand Bhawan at 6.

30am and pass via Swaraj Bhawan, Allahabad University, Divisional Commissioner's residence, NCC headquarters and Army Red Eagle Stadium before reaching the Traffic Police Line, Mayo Hall crossing, Dhobi Ghat, AG Office building, UP Bar Council office, Indira Gandhi crossing, Polo Ground crossing, High Court, GT Road, Ambedkar crossing, All Saints Cathedral, Subhash Crossing, Custom office crossing, and CAV Inter College New Yamuna bridge trisection in Bhairana and Rewa Road. The runners will have to turn back from the HP petrol pump at Dadupur-Rewa Road and head back to Hanuman Temple crossing in Civil Lines. They will enter Chandrashekhar Azad Park from gate number 1 and end the run at Madan Mohan Malaviya Stadium.

The winner of both the men's and women's categories will take home a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh each while the first runner-up in both categories will receive a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh each. The second runners-up of both categories will get Rs 75,000 each. Besides, 11 consolation prizes in each of the men's and women's categories worth Rs 10,000 will also be awarded to those who narrowly miss a podium finish, bagging positions from 4th to 14th, said officials.
