Indian-origin entrepreneur Vinay Hiremath says that he is struggling to find purpose now that he is insanely rich. Hiremath, who reportedly sold his company Loom for $975 million to Atlassian in 2023, says that everything "feels like a side quest" and that he has no idea what to do with his life. In a lengthy blog , he shared details of his life since selling his company, which included giving up a $60 million paycheck, enduring a breakup, turning to robotics, working at Elon Musk-led DOGE and now studying physics in Hawaii.
I am rich and have no idea what to do with my life. Where I talk about leaving Loom, giving up $60m, larping as Elon, breaking up with my girlfriend, insecurities, a brief stint at DOGE, and how I'm now in Hawaii self-studying physics. https://t.

I don’t have the same base desires driving me to make money or gain status. I have infinite freedom, yet I don’t know what to do with it, and, honestly, I’m not the most optimistic about life," Hiremath wrote in his blog. He further revealed to have dedicated himself to studying robotics but lost interest again after realising, "what I actually wanted was to look like Elon, and that is incredibly cringe.
" A post shared by Vinay Hiremath (@vhmth) Hiremath went on to reveal he also broke up with his girlfriend of two years. "If my ex is reading this. Thank you for everything.
I am sorry I couldn’t be what you needed me to be," he wrote. He then moved on to work at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. But again, Hiremath realised it's not where he is supposed to be.

I came to realize how laughable my robotics stint had been in comparison. And I started to realize that, although the mission of DOGE is extremely important, it wasn’t the most important thing I needed to focus on with urgency for myself. I needed to get back to ambiguity, focus on my insecurities, and be ok with that for a while.
DOGE wasn’t going to fix that," he wrote. Hiremath says he is currently self-studying physics in Hawai to build a new company "that manufactures real world things." "It’s been too long since I’ve been completely raw and real with myself, so I’m applying a healthy dose of humility to everything I say and do.
It’s the only thing that feels authentic," he wrote concluding his blog. ALSO SEE: Bengaluru Techie Jumps From Oracle To Uber For 60 LPA Job; Here’s How The 24-Year-Old Did It (Image: Instagram@VinayHiremath).
