The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 saga is going on for quite a time now and still there isn't much clarity about whether India will go to Pakistan or not for the big-ticket event or will the PCB opt for a hybrid model, which will eventually facilitate the Indian team to play at a venue of their liking. Recently, it was on the grapevine that the Men in Blue will not travel across the border as Pakistan has agreed to a hybrid model, which will allow them to play in UAE. But sources from PCB has refuted all claims and clearly stated that the hybrid model is not in the plans of the board.
Now as per sources, India will be giving a detailed reply to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to outline all 'terror activities' by Pakistan in India and will also emphasise how blasts often happen across the border as well at regular intervals. The BCCI will also tell the ICC that other countries travelling to Pakistan cannot be PCB's defence mechanism. On the other hand, the Pakistan Cricket Board is not willing to accept the hybrid model and if they wish to pull out of the tournament, this would lead to a loss of millions of dollars.
But if they agree to the model, then they will lose only 20-30% of the total amount but will still get the hosting fees. If PAK pulls out of the hosting rights then in all likelihood, UAE will host the tournament. The broadcasters on the other hand will want the tournament in the same time zone.
The official announcement will be made in the coming weeks after discussions with all stakeholders. Other countries, who will be travelling to Pakistan are not at all in favour or against India. The tournament is scheduled to start from 19th February, 2025.
