BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has accused India of spreading propaganda against Bangladesh as the mastermind of fascism is now staying in a neighbouring country. "There is a danger over our heads.
The mastermind of fascism Sheikh Hasina is now staying in India, and India has been making propaganda against Bangladesh constantly. We all will have to remain vigilant otherwise we may face a major disaster," he said while talking to reporters at his house at Kalibari area in Thakurgaon town on Wednesday (November 13) morning. Earlier, the BNP secretary general inaugurated the construction work of a new building of Thakurgaon District BNP office.
Fakhrul also blamed Awami League for dividing the nation into two parts and expressed his optimism about building a united nation removing the separation. Claiming that there will be different opinions in a democratic system, Fakhrul told a questioner that a political party cannot recommend banning another political party and is not prudent. "It is not a matter of any political party, rather it is the responsibility of the countrymen.
The countrymen will decide through election who will do politics or not," he said about his party's stance over the demand for banning Awami League politics from the country. Regarding the appointment of advisers, Mirza Fakhrul said there is no precedence to appoint advisers in consultation with political parties. It is the jurisdiction of chief adviser.
They would give appointment for their own convenience. Referring to the issue of next general election, the BNP secretary general said that the main responsibility of the interim government should be creating a level-playing field so that all can take part in the polls and cast their ballots. Impartial people will have to be appointed to conduct the elections.
The interim government should give priority to make the judiciary and the administration impartial, which play the vital roles in an election. Thakurgaon district BNP general secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, finance secretary Shariful Islam Sharif, leaders of district and upazila units of BNP and its associate bodies were present.
