Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi were "manhandled" by BJP lawmakers outside Parliament on Thursday, December 19. The incident occurred during protests by Congress and BJP MPs following the controversy over Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on Dr B R Ambedkar. In their letter, the Opposition MPs said they were conducting a peaceful march from the Ambedkar statue to Makar Dwar when they were "physically obstructed" from entering Parliament.

"Rahul Gandhi was manhandled by three MPs from the ruling party. This is a clear violation of the privileges extended to him and infringes on his rights as an MP," the letter stated. The letter bore signatures of Congress general secretary K C Venugopal, DMK's T R Baalu, NCP's Supriya Sule, and SP's Dimple Yadav, among others.

Meanwhile, BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput claimed they were injured in the melee and accused Gandhi of pushing them..
