In a shocking incident at a polling booth in Rajasthan, Naresh Meena, an independent candidate for the Deoli-Uniara constituency, was seen slapping Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amit Choudhary. The altercation occurred at the Samravata polling station, where Meena, a former Congress leader, confronted Choudhary over alleged election irregularities. A video circulating on social media shows Meena walking into the polling booth before slapping SDM Choudhary, who was on duty to oversee the election process.

Police officers quickly intervened and restrained Meena, who had reportedly accused the SDM of orchestrating fraudulent voting. "The SDM posted here used three of his people and made them vote," NDTV quoted Meena claiming and added, "Now the entire police force is here and has surrounded us. I would request people to go out and reply with their votes.

" Naresh Meena, who was suspended by the Congress party after he decided to contest as an independent, is backed by the Bharat Adivasi Party. His decision to run against Congress' official candidate, Kastor Chand Meena, raised concerns about vote splitting in the closely watched by-election. The Deoli-Uniara seat became vacant after Congress leader Harish Chandra Meena vacated it to take up a position in the Lok Sabha following the general election.

The by-election is taking place amid tight security, with over 9,000 personnel deployed across 1,914 polling stations in Rajasthan. A total of 69 candidates are contesting for seven assembly seats, including Deoli-Uniara, with the results set to be announced on November 23. The Rajasthan Assembly is currently controlled by the BJP, which holds 114 seats, while Congress holds 65.

The outcome of the by-election could have significant implications for the balance of power in the state assembly. Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Elections and around the world..
