Among the Jewish community, we frequently joke about two Jews having three opinions. While often said in jest, the essence of this joke is an accurate depiction of Jewish discourse. When the subject is emotionally, intellectually and politically charged – when the dispute is a matter of life and death – the clash between those opinions is correspondingly deep, and bitter.
