Inspectors have noticed the improvements made at a home in Ipswich which specialises in caring for people who are transitioning from hospital back into the community following an inspection. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) visited The White House in Limerick Close, run by Brama Care. The service provides support for people with eating disorders as well as those going from hospital back in to community living.
During the CQC's last inspection in February 2023, they found that the safe and well-led categories were both requires improvement. This time, both of those categories have been improved to be good. Inspectors noted that medicines were stored safely and securely and medicine risk assessments were in place.
They also found that people were "protected and safe" and staff understood and managed risks. They said: "The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. "There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience.
"Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain quality care. Staff were positive about their supported employment." People who received care at the home were positive about their quality of care to CQC when questioned.
They said they felt safe and were involved in planning their support and understood their rights. They said that people received quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. Leaders were visible during the inspection and they were found to be supportive, helping other staff to develop in their roles.
CQC noted there was a culture of continuous improvement and the service should "routinely seek feedback from people and overtly demonstrate changes made as a result of that feedback"..
