Works to a busy seafront road are well underway as part of the transformation of the city centre. New photos show changes being made to Marine Parade and Old Steine on Brighton seafront. The works are part of the third phase of the Valley Gardens project which will see the city centre transformed.
The project aims to enhance the environment of the area and provide an inclusive and accessible space, at the key arrival point of the city. As part of this, contractors are currently working on construction works outside the Royal Albion Hotel. The works will see a new public space and cycle lane.
Works on the new bus lane on Marine Drive (Image: Eddie Mitchell) Images also capture works being completed on a new westbound bus lane on Marine Drive. The new lane will be between the junction of Lower Rock Gardens and the Sea Life Centre and hopes to provide passengers with a more reliable journey into the city. The work is being funded by money from Brighton and Hove council’s bus service improvement plan.
The lane will not remove any other lanes of traffic and when complete will operate 24 hours a day..
