Pauline Hanson's daughter Lee is adamant she's very different to her "polarising" mother but will follow her mum's lead with a tilt at politics. Login or signup to continue reading Ms Hanson will be at the top of One Nation's Tasmanian senate ticket in the 2025 federal election. Ms Hanson said her upbringing with her politician mum, " the most tenacious, resilient and strongest women in Australia", helped shape her values.
"Those values have carried through to me, she's always been my role model," she said. She acknowledged her mother was a polarising figure but said she was very different to Pauline , and while politics was not part of her plan, becoming a mother herself had changed that. "I am a mum and at some point I feel I have to stand up," she told Seven's Sunrise .
Ms Hanson moved to Tasmania over 13 years ago and has two children. She's worked in senior leadership positions in the banking and higher education sector. "We live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, but people are being left behind," She said.
"Our kids deserve a real chance at a future." She said Tasmania's health system was "not good enough" and holds concerns about education, housing and cost of living. Pauline Hanson, the founder of One Nation, said she had "immense pride" in her daughter's candidacy.
"She has a lot to offer on the floor of parliament," she said. "It's a tough job, I'll admit that, but she's experiencing now as a mother with healthcare and education ..
. unless you get up and have a go, things aren't going to change." Witnessing her mother's political career as a child shaped her understanding of political life, Lee Hanson said.
"Seeing what she (Pauline's) been through, as a child witnessing your parent, the turmoil, ups and downs - why would you want to put yourself through that?" she said. Pauline Hanson said she expects her daughter to have a less thought time in politics as "things have changed" from when she "hit the political scene" in 1996. Pauline Hanson is and has represented Queensland in the Senate since 2016.
