No one enjoys the frustration of parking their car on the street only to return and discover an unsightly scratch. Unfortunately, it's a common occurrence that other drivers might accidentally graze our vehicles, leaving behind unwelcome marks. For those who don't have the luxury of a driveway, dodging these annoyances can be quite challenging.
However, a motoring expert on Instagram shared a budget-friendly hack for removing scratches which costs £1 from the shops. The influencer, Driver_ms_may, who amassed a following of 3.1 million people, regularly posts helpful advice.
In a recent post, she posed the question: "Why do 100 million experienced drivers keep a bottle of toothpaste in their cars?" She went on to describe its crucial role and highlighted "three functions" of toothpaste in cars that are "practical". The driving expert explained: "If there are scratches on the car, we only need to apply toothpaste on the scratches, then wipe it back and forth with a towel a few times. Look it is very clean, it saves repair costs.
" But the benefits of toothpaste for vehicles don't stop there. She also suggested it could help prevent water droplets from forming on mirrors. She added: "Second, when driving on rainy days it is very easy for water droplets to appear on the rear view mirror, so just apply toothpaste then spread it evenly.
"Third, the wiper strips are ageing and can't scrape the glass cleanly. Just apply toothpaste on the rubber strips, wipe it back and forth a few times. So that the glass can be scraped cleanly, isn't this knowledge very practical?" The hack, which was shared recently on Instagram, captured quite the attention online.
One individual remarked: "Great tips!" A different user praised the advice, saying: "Great job, thanks to you!" Although toothpaste can be budget-friendly, available for as little as £1 at local supermarkets, caution is advised as not every tip might suit all needs. It's prudent to consult your driver's manual or a trusted garage before attempting DIY fixes that could potentially lead to greater damage to your vehicle..
