Coleen Rooney has revealed that she tried to act as the "therapist" in her relationship with Wayne and stressed that they've "moved on" with their lives. In an interview with the Times, Coleen opened up about her relationship with the former Manchester United striker , declaring that she wished "other people" would also move on. The I'm A Celeb star, who has endured a number of public controversies relating to her husband over the years, explained that she had attempted to act as the "therapist".
When asked if she and Wayne had tried couples' therapy, Coleen said: "No! We've never felt the need. I've probably tried to act as the therapist." She went on to explain: "It's my decision whatever line I want to go down.
I like to think I'm strong enough to say, 'Enough's enough,' or 'Let's continue and go forward with this.'" She added: "We've moved on with our lives, we wish other people would." Coleen, who shares four children with the Plymouth Argyle manager , Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass, has been a stay-at-home mum for 15 years, with the family predominantly located in Cheshire, while Wayne lives in Plymouth.
In a recent episode of I'm A Celebrity, Coleen revealed that the public had not forgiven her husband for his past mistakes, but said that despite the scandals, the couple are “happy now”. Wayne was sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid community service in 2017 after being caught drink-driving, with the former striker later apologising for an “unforgivable lack of judgment”. However, this wasn't the only public controversy, as Wayne confessed in 2004 to visiting “massage parlours and prostitutes” while he was in a relationship with Coleen.
He said that he had been “very young and immature” and it was prior to when he and his partner had “settled down”. Wayne later hit the headlines with escorts Helen Wood and Jennifer Thompson in 2010, after it was reported he paid for sex while his wife was five months pregnant. Coleen addressed the scandal in her autobiography My Account, writing: "That was a massive test for me and of our relationship.
"Everyone knows I forgave him and we got through it, but it wasn't an overnight thing. As a family, we went through a terrible time. Nothing about this was easy for me.
" Coleen also opened up about the ups and downs in her marriage to campmate Oti Mabuse during an episode of the ITV show. She said: “When things have happened the public have wanted it to just go oh, split, you know, that’s it, split them up. But the fact is, there’s always been love still there.
.. "It has been difficult, but we’re happy now, after all those years.
.. we’re a team.
