The retired Olympic distance runner flexed his athletic skills last week while out for a jog with his wife, Tania. After leaving his phone on the side of a private road to pick up later, a large white van with two men inside pulled up. One man grabbed the phone and they sped off.
But they didn't go unnoticed by Sir Mo who, according to an eyewitness, took off at 'Olympic speed' and went 'full throttle' after the vehicle. When the culprits realised who was hot on their heels, they quickly returned the phone before zooming away. However, the 41 year old is said to be fuming about the incident, especially as it happened on a luxurious 964-acre gated community where he lives with his wife and children and which benefits from an extensive security on site.
The 5,000 and 10,000-metre champ has been left confused as to how the suspects managed to slip past the 24-hour security detail. A source told the Mail on Sunday that an investigation into the incident has been launched, reports the Daily Star . OK! has reached out to Sir Mo's rep for comment.
This comes after his announcement of retirement following his fourth-place finish at Tyneside's Great North Run in September last year, a race he had previously won a record six times. Sir Mo has been happily wedded to Tania since 2010, who is also a long-distance runner, for 14 years. The pair have known each other since their youth, when they were both members of the same West London running club.
Mo starred in I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2020, staying at the camp within chilly Grwych Castle, alongside Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, radio DJ Jordan North and presenter Vernon Kay..
