Igor has offered another big hint that he is closing on a return to action. And Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed his Brazilian defender is ahead of schedule. Igor was feared to be out for the season when he underwent surgery on a hamstring tear in early January.
But he recently posted a defiant message that he would beat the odds and return early. He posted on social media: “They said I wouldn’t return this season. You’ll see.
” His latest offering this morning read: “One more little week and we are back in the game. Have a good week everyone.” Albion have been increasingly short of defenders in recent weeks and used midfielders Jack Hinshelwood and Carlos Baleba in the back line in the 2-2 draw with Leicester.
Speaking ahead of the Foxes’ visit, head coach Hurzeler said: “That's a very positive message. I don't want to always deliver bad messages with our injured players, so he's very far in his rehab and he's ahead of his schedule. “He's got a great work ethic, so I'm really impressed how he's doing his rehab sessions.
“He looked quite sharp, so I'm quite convinced that he will be back in the next weeks.”.
