The Steamwheelers improved to 4-0 for the first time ever in a lopsided home win over the Barnstormers on Saturday night in Moline.

On a night when former North Scott High School standout quarterback Nile McLaughlin threw two touchdown passes for the Iowa Barnstormers, the Indoor Football League rematch against the homestanding Quad City Steamwheelers was less about the quarterback play. Quad City Steamwheelers' offensive linemen, from left to right, Ivory Scott Jr., (71), Joe Krall (65) and Tyrone Chambers (74) give quarterback Daquan Neal (2) the time he needs to get his pass away during the first quarter of Saturday's game against the Iowa Barnstormers at Vibrant Arena in Moline.

The Steamwheelers rushed for four touchdowns – two of those by Deion McShane – in a dominating 53-35 victory at Vibrant Arena. McShane had a huge offensive night for the Wheelers as he also caught two touchdown passes from starting QB Daquan Neal. The QC rookie accounted for 56 yards in the game on his six touches.

The victory was the fourth straight to start the season as the Wheelers added to their franchise record for victories to start a campaign. Davenport's Keyvan Rudd scored QC's final touchdown, that coming on a 6-yard run. Wide receiver Jalen Bracey (5) goes high to reel in a pass during the first half of Saturday's game against the Quad City Steamwheelers at Vibrant Arena in Moline.

While the offense was churning out the yardage and touchdowns, the defense was dominant once again. After recording five interceptions in last week’s road victory at Iowa, QC’s defense followed that up with four more in Saturday’s victory. Adding the icing to the victory was kicker Kyle Kaplan adding three deuces as he pounded those kickoffs between the uprights for an additional two points on each.

The Wheelers have an off week to enjoy this start and return home on April 26 to host Jacksonville in another Eastern Conference clash. Quad City Steamwheelers wide receiver Deion McShane (11) hauls in a catch for a touchdown during the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Iowa Barnstormers at Vibrant Arena in Moline. After Iowa starting QB Joaquin Collazo was picked off twice early in the game, McLaughlin got his shot in front of the home fans.

While taking a couple of nasty hits from the QC pass rush, he completed 12 of 21 passes for for 102 yards. He was picked off twice as the Barnstormers fell to 0-3 overall and in Eastern Conference games.
