‘I’d advise you’ – Stephen Hendry gets apology from snooker star after cheeky YouTube channel snub

Kyren Wilson said sorry to snooker legend Stephen Hendry after he plugged a rival YouTube channel for coaching tips.Seven-time snooker World Champion Hendry has found new life after his playing days in the form of the popular video platform.Wilson answered a series of Q&A questions and he gave advice for budding playersITVHis ‘Cue Tips’ channel has amassed more than 350,000 subscribers and has some of the biggest names in the sport as guests.

Current World Snooker Champion Wilson was asked in a Q&A about guidance he would offer newcomers to the sport.Instead of directing them to Hendry’s page, he sent them to a rival YouTuber – Barry Stark.The online coach has 218,000 subscribers and has published more than 170 videos.



Wilson did say sorry to Hendry as he answered the question.“An absolute legend who helped me was Mr. Barry Stark,” he told ITV Sport.

“I’d advise you to go on to YouTube and look at Barry Stark and his coaching advice. “Sorry Stephen, but I’m going to have to put a plug against Cue Tips there.”World number two Wilson will head back to The Crucible later this month to defend his world title.

He defeated Jak Jones in the final 12 months ago to lift the trophy for the first time.In his last major event before the World Snooker Championship, Wilson was beaten by Ding Junhui in the quarter-finals of the Tour Championships.Hendry’s YouTube chanell has amassed a huge followingYouTube @Stephen Hendry's Cue TipsHe needed medical attention for a nosebleed that required him to walk out of the auditorium in Manchester for more than 30 minutes.

“It was a nightmare. I think it was just exhaustion,” Wilson later said on ITV 4.“I went deep in the Players Championship and then had three back-to-back exhibitions after that.

“In hindsight it is probably a good thing. It’ll give me two weeks to knuckle down and get a bit of rest and get ready for the World Championships.”Wilson, who will be the number one seed at The Crucible, will kick off his campaign on Saturday, April 19.
