Los Angeles' Papa Cristo's Greek Grill & Market, a famed Greek restaurant, prepares to close after 77 years of service. In a heartfelt statement on the restaurant's Facebook page, owner Chrys Chrys expressed his gratitude and reflected on the legacy left by his parents, Sam and Annie Chrys. "After 77 unforgettable years on the corner of Pico and Normandie, it’s time for me to hang up my apron and for us to say goodbye (for now)," Chrys wrote on Thursday.

Chrys, who has been steadfast in maintaining the family business and the community space it provided, particularly for members of the nearby Greek Orthodox Church, continued to emphasize the familial ties that have bound the establishment to its patrons. "To all of our cherished customers and devoted staff, I say ευχαριστώ (thank you!). You are my family, and Papa Cristo’s will always be a part of yours," the statement said.



Papa Cristo’s made its mark not only through its food but also by fostering a sense of community, creating a place where memories and traditions could blend seamlessly with dining experiences.The iconic taverna-style restaurant, renowned for its Greek-style meals and desserts, is not ending its story here.
